Beyond the Beats is a podcast hosted by jazz pianist and ethnomusicologist Dhiren Panikker, exploring the relationship between music and culture. Through interviews with artists, scholars, and educators across various genres, Dhiren explores the global impact of music and its connection to issues of race, identity, and politics. Listeners will understand not only “how” people make music and “what kind” of music they make, but why they do so at all, and what kind of meanings are created through the act of performing, listening to, and talking about it.
