Our adult piano lessons build on each student’s unique skills and musical interests. We focus on developing a strong musical foundation while giving you the tools to play the music you love, from classic jazz standards to 80s pop and rock, and everything in between. Lessons are thoughtfully structured for adult learners, combining clear progression with creativity and exploration. Through our innovative approach, adult students learn to:

Beginners & Returning Players Welcome
We welcome both the adult beginner and seasoned performer. Unlike cookie-cutter models of music education, our lessons are thoughtfully tailored to your individual needs, experience level, and goals.
Beginning Students
While there are advantages to starting an instrument in childhood, there is no fixed timeline for musical learning. For adult beginners, we focus on building a solid technical and musical foundation through lessons that are patient, clear, and progressive. The ultimate goal is confidence and enjoyment, with an emphasis on learning to play the music you love.
Adult Returners
Many adults were introduced to piano as children but never fully connected with it, or set it aside as life became busy. It truly is never too late to return. Through a supportive and structured approach, we help students shake off the musical cobwebs, reconnect with their creativity, and rebuild the skills and confidence needed to play with ease and enjoyment.
Advanced Performers
Whether you are a skilled amateur or a seasoned professional, we support your continued growth at the instrument. Advanced lessons are more detailed and goal-driven, with a focus on refining technique, touch and tone, rhythmic and aural skills, and theoretical understanding. We provide a clear roadmap for progress within a supportive and collaborative learning environment.
Learn The Music You Love
Most conventional piano programs begin and end with classical music. While Bach and Mozart offer an important foundation, the world of music is far broader. Adult piano lessons at Innovation Music Studio® are shaped around your individual musical interests and tastes. We help students develop the skills to play the music they love, from jazz and Broadway to pop, rock, classical, and everything in between.
Our adult lessons also move beyond the notes on the page. Students learn the building blocks of improvisation, developing the ability to create music in the moment. We also teach skills for arranging favorite songs and composing original music that reflects each student’s unique musical voice.
Flexible Scheduling
We offer a variety of lesson options and formats to fit your needs. Students may choose individual, one-off lessons or discounted monthly packages with a recurring weekly time slot.
We provide lessons in 40 and 55 minute blocks. Shorter sessions work for the working adult, while longer lessons provide more focus and detail.

Dr. Dhiren Panikker (he/him) is a Los Angeles–based pianist, scholar, and educator with over 25 years of teaching experience. As co-owner of Innovation Music Studio®, Dhiren teaches private lessons in piano, composition, and improvisation for adults and teens. His teaching approach is both structured and flexible, emphasizing a strong musical foundation while encouraging creativity and personal expression. While specializing in jazz and pop piano, Dhiren draws from a wide range of musical styles aligned with each student’s interests.
