Piano lessons at Innovation Music Studio® in Monrovia, CA are comprehensive, creative, and tailored to the unique personality, interests, and goals of each student.
We take a 21st-century approach to music education. Students explore a wide range of repertoire—from pop and rock to jazz, classical, indie, and musical theatre—while developing essential skills such as reading chord lead sheets, feeling rhythm, understanding music theory, and hearing musical structure.
Creativity and expression are at the heart of our piano lessons. From the very beginning, students are encouraged to explore, play, and create. Through interactive games and hands-on exercises, they learn the art of improvisation, or creating music in the moment. By learning not only to imitate but to invent and innovate, students develop a strong personal musical identity and a sense of ownership over their artistic process.
Our lessons are enriched with historical, social, and cultural context. Through our monthly Musician Spotlight Series, students learn about influential artists, styles, and traditions, helping them understand where music comes from, what it represents, and the powerful role it plays in our everyday lives.
Through this holistic approach, our students become confident, creative musicians, while fostering a lifelong love of music.

Piano lessons at Innovation Music Studio® are personal and individualized. While many music schools focus almost exclusively on Western classical traditions, we embrace a broad range of styles including pop, jazz, contemporary music, and global traditions. From Beethoven to Bruno Mars, students build the skills to play the music they genuinely love.
We believe a strong musical foundation should be built through creativity, not repetition alone. Where traditional programs often rely on mechanical exercises and an overemphasis on sight-reading, we encourage students to develop their own musical voices through improvisation, songwriting, and creative exploration. By giving students the tools to create music, they form a deeper and more personal connection to the piano.
At many studios, piano study can feel solitary and disconnected. At Innovation Music Studio®, students regularly participate in collaborative musical experiences beyond the typical recital. Our bi-annual concerts and curated workshops featuring live bands give students the opportunity to perform with others, build real-world musicianship, and grow confidence in a supportive setting.
Finally, we place a strong emphasis on community and connection. Rather than a cookie-cutter model used by large, high-volume studios, Innovation Music Studio® offers a boutique and relationship-driven experience. We value meaningful, long-term connections with our students, their families, and the wider community, creating an environment where students feel supported and inspired.
At Innovation Music Studio ®, we believe music learning can happen at any age. We work with students of all ages, from children to teens, adults, and seniors. We welcome beginners through advanced students with interests in pop, jazz, contemporary, and classical music.
